2020 Event FAQ

GRAN FONDO HINCAPIE-CHATTANOOGA

Unfortunately, due to the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus and the uncertainty that exists in almost every aspect of our everyday lives, we have decided the safest course of action is to postpone the 2020 Gran Fondo Hincapie-Chattanooga event to May 1st, 2021.

What happens now?

    • We are happy to offer two options:
      1. Sit back and relax. You have been registered for Gran Fondo Hincapie-Chattanooga on May 1st, 2021 and we forward seeing you there. Your registration is exactly the same–your clothing, additional purchased apparel, etc. is good to go.
      2. If you can’t wait until next May to ride with us, you may also change your registration to Gran Fondo Hincapie-Greenville (October 24th, 2020). You can do this by emailing us at registration@hincapiesports.com before September 27, 2020.
        ***At this time, our plan is to move forward with the Greenville, SC event as scheduled. Should the situation with COVID-19 prevent us from holding the event, your registration will be transferred to Chattanooga 2021. We will make sure you get to ride with us!***

Why was the ride postponed and not cancelled?

  • A cancellation would have meant that no money is refunded because it was already spent on event expenses, as well as no options for the riders.
  • A postponement means that the riders’ entries, as well as everything else pertaining to the event remains, valid for the new date.We feel that a postponement is the best way to serve our community of riders. Even though many expenses have already been incurred, we will be able to apply cost saving methods to host the event next year. Also, it is the only option available that allows you to participate in the Gran Fondo Hincapie experience with your existing registration.

Does Hincapie have event cancellation insurance?

Yes, event cancellation insurance covers event specific cases like wildfires along the course, or flooding, or severe weather like tornados that would prevent the race from happening. or some other unforeseen. However, pandemic coverage was not available.

I am not sure that I can attend either of those events. Is it possible to receive a refund?

Unfortunately, due to the costs that have already been incurred and cannot be reimbursed or recouped, we are not able to offer refunds.

Will I be mailed my packet from Gran Fondo Hincapie-Chattanooga 2020?

You will receive a complete rider packet for the 2021 Chattanooga event. If you opt to transfer your registration to the 2020 Greenville event, you will receive your rider packet for that event.

I ordered additional apparel with my registration. What should I expect?

The additional apparel that you ordered will transfer with your registration. The apparel will match the event you decide to attend.

I registered during your “Black Friday Promotion” in November 2019. Will I still get a free pair of bib shorts to go with my event jersey?

Yes, you will still get a pair of bib shorts if you registered during this promotion period. Those bib shorts will be picked up with your rider packet when you attend the Greenville 2020 or Chattanooga 2021 event, and will match the event jersey.
