Retired professional cyclist Michael Rogers has confirmed his plans to ride in Gran Fondo Hincapie-Greenville on October 20, 2018. Rogers, a three-time World Time Trial Champion and stage winner at the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France, will ride the 80-mile Gran route alongside other cycling greats like George Hincapie, Christian Vande Velde, Bobby Julich, and Nelson Vails.

Since retirement, Rogers has founded VirtuGO, a new indoor cycling app that combines pro cycling-inspired training and stunning virtual environments into one seamless experience.

“I’m really excited to be taking part in my first Gran Fondo Hincapie,” says Rogers. “The worldwide cycling community continues to praise the unique experience that George and his team have created and continue to improve. I’m looking forward to cycling through the beautiful landscape of Greenville alongside thousands of fellow cyclists.”

“I’m thrilled to have Michael Rogers riding with us in Greenville,” says George Hincapie. “We had a great time together in 2008 and 2009 as teammates, so it will be fun to reconnect with him on the road in my home town.”

The original Gran Fondo Hincapie, located in Greenville, SC, and now in its seventh year, has topped charts and received stellar reviews, acclaimed for the cycling celebrities in attendance, as well as the careful attention to safety, on-site viewing screens, course and segment timing, live tracking and streaming, live bands at the rest stops, and free family festival. Key components of the Gran Fondo Hincapie format are standard routes of 15, 50, and 80 miles, as well as the high-end customer experience, best highlighted by the Celebrity Chef Dinner the evening prior to the ride.

The event has now expanded to a series, with rides in Chattanooga, Tennessee on May 4, 2019 and Fort Worth, Texas on March 30, 2019.

Additional announcements about other celebrities attending Gran Fondo Hincapie-Greenville are forthcoming.
